Do you have a close friend, who lives far away? One you crave time with? Mine lives 1221 miles away. But we were blessed with time this summer.
We love to sip, thrift, and hunt out a unique antique. We love Jesus. Oh, and we love to create. She with a paintbrush, and me with a pen.
Our time together was cherished.
So we made memories with these favorite things to last until the next meet-up:
We sipped in 3 cafés in one day. We think of each other when we hug our palms around chai lattes and London fogs.
We antiqued in an old barn. Anytime I am in dust and mildew I will giggle at our hunt for the unknown essential we were after.
We thrifted 2 separate days and found a lemon scarf for each of us! Now we think of each other when we see lemons.
But even more so, we shared dreams, concerns, and our hearts’ desires. When we pray for each other, our prayers are specific.
You make treasured memories when you share your favorite things.
And the fertile common ground of the Holy Spirit connects your souls. Allowing you to pick right up where you left off whenever you meet.
As summer winds down and new beginnings surface again, why not create memories around your family table?
Simply meeting at your table with each other regularly,
with Jesus,
unifies and creates a shared place to make fond food memories.
And links souls that time and distance cannot diminish.
These are a few recipes I have been making lately for around our table. Perhaps they will become a memory maker for you too.
Summer Kale Salad with Barbeque Salmon
Healthy Homemade Chewy Granola Bars
Will you share some savored memories - food or otherwise - from this summer? It will connect us even if there is a distance between us.
Share your summer memories in the comments or chat to let them linger a little longer.
And we can get to know each other a little more.

To rest with my favorites, and to gear up for a new season of the Contented Table, I am taking a four-week break from new content. You will still receive an email biweekly as usual. Look for posts in your inbox from the archive that may be new for you.
See you soon around the Contented Table.
Until then,
A gentle reminder,
God wants you to know:
I see you, I hear you, I love you.
Pull up a chair to the Contented Table. There is always room for one more.
Jane
Now that's quality time with a friend!
Oh Jane, this is the best! Thrifting and coffee--a woman after my own heart. And I love lemons--two lemon scarves--what are the chances?!
Thank you for sharing your exuberance and joy with us.
